L’Actinidia deliciosa, comunemente detto kiwi, è una pianta da frutto originaria della Cina.
Actinidia deliciosa, more commonly known as the kiwi, is a fruit of Chinese origin.
La pianta è una liana rampicante a foglie caduche, di notevoli dimensioni, in grado di arrivare fino a 10 m di altezza. Il sostegno ai supporti, in natura costituiti da altri alberi o rupi, è ottenuto dal fusto stesso che nella parte terminale si avvolge come un viticcio (come i fagioli).
The plant is a large deciduous climbing liana which can grow to a height of 10 m. In nature the plant is supported by other trees and or rocks, while the agricultural variety is largely sustained by its own trunk, the terminal part of which forms gripping tendrils (like beans).
I frutti del kiwi contengono una grande quantità di vitamine, soprattutto la vitamina C, la cui quantità presente, 85 mg per 100 g di parte edibile, è superiore a quella delle arance (50 mg); come è noto la vitamina C è un ottimo antiossidante.
